...please shine down on me.
Sun is a beautiful thing, but we're in for another round today and tomorrow. I know this has all been on the national news, but if you're interested in it, here's a link where you can really see the damage. Entire two story houses are under water and there's even a picture on there of an entire elementary school under water on Atl's west side. They've gotten over 20 inches of rain over there. Hit on any one of the galleries and you can see the flood pictures.
We spend so much time worrying about fire. We completely ignore the power of water. It's an incredible force, to be sure.
I did, however, just go outside and pick 1.6 lbs of UNBITTER cucumbers! Woohoo for a second harvest. Thanks, EG for recomending it.

Hooray for both the unbitter cukes AND the keeping your heads all above water. My students in the area are emailing me with updates about why they can't turn in their papers. . . I tell them to wait and see. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to have to wait until the sea rises before we go under. Or a good quake, I guess.
Man, I love the excuses these kids can come up with. I had no creativity when I was in school. I tell them that I prefer they don't turn in the papers if they didn't want to. With 167 kids, one less paper is one less to grade....they eventually pick up on the sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I just visited the link you posted. Awful. You're right, people generally do underestimate the power of water. Look at me, I'm 32 and have yet to learn how to swim.
ReplyDeleteHi, Thomas! Yes, it's terrible, isn't it. Most of that stuff is to the west of the city and we're to the east, but it's still a precarious balance we have with too little or too much water.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching your area on the news and I am sending dry thoughts your way!
ReplyDeleteGlad they were unbitter :) And glad you escaped the damage!
ReplyDeleteOh no! That sounds awfully wet. =( Hope you're staying dry (and yay for unbitter cucs)
