I took the little seedlings outside to sunbathe and they seemed to enjoy it.
I decided also that the entire other corner yard would be dedicated to herbs etc. There's some garlic in the left front bed and I planted some horseradish in the right front bed. That's something I've always wanted to do.
There is a rotten, rogue bird that I keep catching pecking in those boxes over there. He already uprooted one of my garlics and I think got a horseradish root. I hope he chokes on them.
I did, however, pull two broccoli from the garden yesterday, but whereas they looked pretty, they were pretty rotten underneath.
The time will come, and soon! that things will be growing. I'm starting some potatoes in the kitchen already and in the next week will put those broccoli, lettuce and others in the garden to make room for the tomatoes. Amazing how when the season starts, it startes with a vengeance.
The morning comes early. Sweet gardening dreams (Wow! It's been a while since I've been able to say that!).
Glad to see you are able to get outside. Bird netting over those beds will keep that pesky bird out. We also had a sunny Spring like weekend and I was out in it all weekend! I hope our garden friends up north thaw out soon!
ReplyDeleteI wish we were sunbathing but it has done nothing but rain for days. The broccoli looks good, I will be harvesting a few small heads of cauliflower soon.
ReplyDeleteAh, to be taking in the scent of soil and to feel the dirt under my fingers...Unfortunately, my soil is under 3 feet of snow right now. Your seedlings look so cute taking in the sun. I live vicariously for now, but know warmer days will happen for me too eventually.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered horseradish roots and will be growing them for the first time this year. I can't wait. Yeah, that bird, hope he chokes on it! We have a love / hate relationship with birds here.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see those seedlings out soaking up the sun!
ReplyDeleteI AM dreaming in dirt lately! I can't believe it's only a few weeks away. I feel so behind, like it just suddenly went from dead of winter and nothing to do to oh wait- time to plant!!!
ReplyDeleteTeach the son how to use a bb gun, and the bird will become a thing of the past. At least that's what i'd do.....heh.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could smell the soil again. The closest I'm coming for a while is my soil blocks with onions in them. And they smell a lot more like onions than soil. Ah well my time will come. I just have to be patient.
ReplyDeleteI'd kill for some homegrown broccoli right now!
