Potatoes are in!

I decided to do the potatoes in containers again since they worked out so well last year. I put them to bed this afternoon so we'll see how they do this year. I can't wait to do a roast potato dish with the yellow and purple potatoes. Yummy!

Still trying to decide about the carrots. I think I'll hold off on them until late summer/fall. Last spring they were spindly and I had to get them out of the ground quick to make room for other things. I really think I'll just wait even though it will be hard.

  4. Mine did badly in the cages last year, I'm debating on whether I really want to dig beds in the ground for them ... I better decide soon! My first year was good in cages however, so maybe if I try one more time... :)

  5. Fall carrots are always better around here. The ones that mature in the summer just aren't as sweet, but I'll still plant them. I want carrots.

  6. Good luck with your potatoes. I had my best success with fall carrots grown with Granny's Seed Mat method. I watered the bed almost every day and the carrots grew and actually fattened up. I am going to try spring carrots again so we will see.

  7. Sounds like planting is getting underway down south. I'm thinking of potting up some early potatoes this year in the polytunnel. Way to cold here still to start though, maybe late March.
