Since potting up, my tomatoes have all been outside braving the elements. It's only gotten down to the 40's at night, so I figured it wasn't so bad, but I dropped the ball. Last night it was 38. Major tomato faux pas. I came home today to find some of them just completely wilted. they were gone. Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone. Gonner that in Carol Burnett's Gone With the Wind sketch. (Gone's a funny word when viewed in seclusion, isn't it?) I gave them some water on the off chance they'd bounce back. Perhaps they were just thirsty...perhaps they just needed love...
I just went back to check on them and I found myself singing this song. I don't think I've heard it since I was a kid, but you can seem to find anything on youtube!!
I'm stoked.
The morning comes early. Sweet gardening dreams.

Oh Ribbit, I hope you haven't lost them. As for your lettuce, ours will keep for several weeks in a plastic bag tied shut in the refrigerator.

Wow close call! I would be doing a happy dance too! Right now I have some sitting outside on the deck for about 2 hours worth taste of evening temps - hope, hope, hope I remember to bring them in by 9 pm!!

The only hope I gave these toms were a drink of water. A girlfriend of mine tried beer and it worked for her. I don't know if there's any truth to that, but you'd have 11 more you could drink yourself if it fails. :)
Cute video! That was a close call...glad your tomatoes survived! Our temps have been in the 40s overnight as well and the propane tank ran out in our greenhouse the other night when it got close to mid 30s....thankfully we caught it in time.
