Thanks, guys! Too bad I can't stand the things. .. It was the principle of the thing. I couldn't do it, so I tried five different locations until I came up a victor...now I'll take them all to the school because I couldn't just grow one - now I've got a mountain.
There's always hope with potatoes! Try new locations. One every five years!!
Congrats! I I'm not a quitter either. I'm always trying for corn. I can grow it on the plots in Alabama I'll be darned if FLorida is going to keep me form growing it - I keep trying. LOL.
Congrats on your pepper, I am growing California bell peppers, habanero, jalapeno, and Hungarian wax peppers and we don't eat them either! I like giving them away though.
So, do you have the same loathing for RIPE peppers? A lot of people who are not fond of the green ones like them a lot better when they're allowed to ripen.
I'm a wife, teacher and mom of two who came by gardening accidentally in order to appease a fussy child in a big-box hardware store. He saw yellow pear tomatoes (his favorite color) and we became container gardeners.
As it goes with anything involving children, my interest far outlasted his and now we have a square foot garden in our corner yard.
As long as we can battle the bugs and keep the dog from the soil, we might have some fun.
Harvest:
2009 TOTAL ---- 136 lbs
2010 TOTAL ---- I stink. I gave up weighing.
===============================
The boy has eaten:
Spinach
Lettuce
Blueberry
Teeninesy radish bit. He chewed it, spit it out and then rinsed his mouth with water. It still counts.
Carrots - orange, white and purple
Zucchini
Beans - purple, green and Dragon Tongue
Okra
Cantaloupe
===============================
The girl has eaten:
carrot
Cantaloupe - smelled, licked, sucked on a slice, but ingestion is doubtful.

ReplyDeleteIn my experience once you conquer something you have it from then on. Red bells are tasty, tasty. I don't like green ones so much.
