But before we get to all that, I'm over my bottle opener. Every time I try to open a bottle of wine, the screw unhinges from the opener and I'm left with this:
It's obnoxious. It's irritating, and I'm tired of it. It's only made worse that three months ago I cleaned out the 'junk' drawer in the kitchen, realized we had four bottle openers and chucked all but one. Which one? The one that doesn't stinkin' work! Irritating at best.
Anyway, about that snow. The weather stations and the people all around town started buzzing on Friday, but the forecast hasn't been the same for more than 2 hours. As a matter of fact, all three local news stations are touting different snowfall totals from 2-7+ inches. The only thing they can agree on is that something is going to happen, which is honestly a first in and of itself.
So, like a dutiful Georgian, Friday after school I went and stocked up on all of the supplies you're supposed to have on hand.
Got the milk: Got the bread: Even got snow-beer for us and hot chocolate for the kids.
And then remembered something and ran back to the store yesterday. I braved the mad chaos and the dashing children. I refereed a fight between two unknown children and the last box of Fruity Pebbles. I ignored the urge to pick up yet one more gallon of milk and loaf of bread even though peer pressure is a powerful devil, and I made it out alive with this: Let the snow begin. ;)
We went shopping too but I can't seem to understand the milk and bread thing, lol. I picked up a couple cans of canned milk and I have a loaf of bread rising in the oven so that when it is really cold this evening I will have the oven going. What I did pick up were batteries for the touch lights and flashlights, lamp oil for the kerosene lamps (I have at least 100 candles stored). I already have a lot of salt so didn't need that. Other than that we are pretty well stocked up. Just waiting to see how much snow gets dumped on Georgia and how many days it will be before we see a snowplow.
ReplyDeleteHope y'all get through it OK! I'll be sending California sunny and 46 degree thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteHope you manage. The Seattle area doesn't cope well with snow either, so I understand your concern. It's maddening, since I come originally from Massachusetts, where they usually cope quite well with storms that drop 2 feet at once.
ReplyDeleteIt's reverse-hurricane season, hurry!! I love it, good thing you got a new corkscrew! Hope you all stay inside safe and warm tonight!
