The carrot went in her mouth.
It took several attempts on her part. She seemed uninterested, so I tried to take the carrot away from her. This was met with a insistent, "I can do it. I can do it," and barrage of arm flapping, feet pumping, and multiple evasive maneuvers on the girl's end. She would then fuzzy eyeball that carrot like it was about to sprout wings and take off with her Dora the Explorer doll. We performed this dance multiple times. She really wanted to take that bite, but just couldn't bring herself to do it.
She finally did it. It wasn't so much a bite as it was a scraping of teeth on orange flesh, but she took a bit off none-the-less.
And promptly spit it out and fed it to her brother before I could stop her.
But I do have proof that vegetables did grace the lips of that child.

Well, you should know there IS hope though. My brother NEVER touched a single vegetable growing up. NOT ONE......and then he met a gal.....and yup, she got him eating everything right from avocados to zuchinni.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll find a cute vegan guy?
Baby steps...maybe the real bite will come on the next try. Then again, maybe not ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I hated veggies when I was a child! Love them now. Hopefully she will try carrots again.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes....the rebellious child versus a vegetable that's good for their health. Mine are still in the "onion phase", but I have hopes for that obstacle to be crossed pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I didn't eat tomatoes or onions until I was in college. Why? Who knows. Heck, it was just this summer that I ate my first pepper.
ReplyDeleteRed ones and green ones are still straight from the Devil, himself.
I'd make them a carrot cake and don't tell them it has veggies in it. Sugar makes everything go down :-)
ReplyDeleteHA! When the boy was little, I'd make him subterfuge sandwiches where I'd put broccoli under the cheese of the cheese toast.
ReplyDeletegood job! on managing to get a photo, that is! I struggle with the same issues too... one day they will never believe that they turned their noses up at fresh veggies from the garden!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. . .
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty matter of fact about things. They have to take some "try it" bites, but people have different desires. There's just too many people here to cook around them.
Besides, a little experiment on her part might go a long way in the future.
She looks so unsure but so cute too! Keep telling her she can't have them and maybe she'll wind up being a vegetarian? ;^) I didn't want to listen to my mother either. lol
ReplyDeleteHey Just Jenn!! Good to see you're still around. Hope things are well with you.
ReplyDeleteI love the "Bugs Bunny" carrot with the top still on!
ReplyDeleteI was one of those miserable children to feed (and there are still a lot of things I don't eat) but I think it's funny, I convinced my mom to eat some of the one and only yellow bell pepper from my garden (that got to finish ripening in the trunk of my car as I drove cross-country). She went from "what do you want to do with your pepper- you're really the only one who eats them here" to adding it to everybody's salad at dinner...
Amy, that's how they boy requests them. He loves it with the "grass" still on.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that photo!!!
