A Budding Picaso

There are certain rights of passage all children must go through. You must fall off of the bed. You have to slam your hand in the car door, and you will invariably get a hold of a pen when your mother isn't looking.
At least she confined it to her legs and belly.

Barbie from Barb's Blurbs commented on yesterday's post that I should look into ribbon for miscarriages, still birth, SIDS and general infant loss awareness. I took her up on her advice and did some research to find that their ribbon is a pale pink and blue mix. I couldn't find pre-made ribbon, so I made this one myself. You can't see it so well here, but it's satin ribbon, although I'll be looking for grosgrain soon, and stitched in alternating colors. The blue is stitched with pink and the pink is stitched with blue.
It's going on the Keychains for a Cause page tonight. They'll only be available on the 1.25 cotton webbing, but in both wristlet and key fob sizes. I hope they're able to provide someone, somewhere, with comfort.

Do you have any other suggestions of awareness ribbons/patterns you'd like to see offered?
The morning comes early. Sweet dreams.

  1. Well, leave it to me to come up with this one: a ribbon for the troops! :) LOL, love the ink designs on the legs...

  2. Great idea, Erin! I have yellow ribbon already, but would that suffice or is there another color/design I should consider? Shoot, if it's just plain yellow, I can have that posted up tonight!

  3. The yellow is good for the deployed servicemember, it means "until they come home" and just a plain red white & blue stripe ribbon is on a lot of vehicles here and it says just "Support our troops", so I guess that one is the all inclusive LOL

  4. So both it is, Erin. I just looked at my yellow and it's more of a reflective "don't run over me" yellow. I'll look for more tomorrow including the red, white and blue ones and try to get them up tomorrow.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  6. We knew someone who got all bent out of shape when their kids decorated themselves with watercolor markers. We always figured it was better than tattoos, and maybe they'd get it out of the systems early. Except that blue marker fades to bruise-yellow pretty fast, and sometimes they drew circles around their eyes. . .

  8. EG, I've been looking for SEC ribbon!!! Yes, even Auburn. The sports stores around here don't carry ribbon, so I'm going to have to get it on-line, but they want you to mortgage your house, so I'm trying to work it out.

  9. Oh yeah, much better than tattoos! In my family we tended to draw on the walls when mom wasn't looking....

  10. AWESOME! You work fast! Thanks. I'll put my order in soon. :-) I need to count heads and make sure I don't leave anyone out that wants one. Thank you so much for doing this!
