A long time ago, I made a batch of sweet pickles (possibly the only batch I ever made come to think of it...) and the cukes were bitter. Even the brown sugar, vinegar and spices could't cover that up. They are my favorite kind of pickles ever, so luckily, my mom usually sends me some of hers.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13306754150860679811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930778534030920874.post-72670995937888795152009-06-11T13:38:53.948-04:002009-06-11T13:38:53.948-04:00Don't get me wrong, Momma. Those spotted cucumber beetles are tough to catch, though.

EG, I think I've found a neighborhood kid to come squish bugs for me while I'm on vacation. He sure better do a good job or I won't have anything left when I come back.Ribbithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01460673212389110633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930778534030920874.post-65808303861013206392009-06-11T13:36:09.508-04:002009-06-11T13:36:09.508-04:00Skunks? That is a nice photo of the harvest, and also the okra bloom. Certain people in the Pacific Northwest would be crying if they had the bugs that you and I have. Of course, they don't have any squash, either. Ha! I found my first spotted cucumber beetle of the year on my corn the other day, which is really odd.
